Steampunk pendant

It's the 1st November - and a new challenge awaits you at Our Creative Corner!


        This month it is Claudia's turn to set the challenge - And it is a Steampunk one! I am not usually a 'Steampunk' person but I always find Claudia's Steampunk challenges so inspiring! I hope you will come and join us in the world of Steampunk this month! Claudia wants us to play Steampunk Tic Tac Toe....

    I knew straight away what line of the Tic Tac Toe grid I wanted - Wings, Wire and Gears. And of course as usual I like to take it up a 'gear'! and make it even more of a challenge - what if I use nothing else? Tricky - but I wanted to see what I could come up with.

       So here is my Steampunk Pendant......and it has only wings, wire and gears.....and the addition of a metal key as the center part of the pendant. For this post there is no mention of DI, DS, DP and DG....just the requirements of the Tic Tac Toe grid.


     First of all I needed a central part of the pendant to attach everything else to. I used a metal key - part of a set that had a variety of sizes and styles.

I had some large metal corners and I cut the ends of these off and used them as the wings. Using a dab of Glossy accents glue I attached the wings to the back of the key....I had wanted to make this without using any other craft materials, but attaching the wings to the key with just wire would have been even more fiddly a job than it already was.

I then got some rusty wire and wound it around the key, twisting ends into loops with some small pliers.

    Once this was done I used some fine gold wire to add contrast...again winding it around the key and adding some twisted ends at the top of the pendant.

     To finish this pendant I glued some gorgeous tiny watch gears to the top of the key

                       .............And that has to be the shortest description I have ever done!!!
