I do love Christmas! And I really love making Christmas decorations! My house is full of candle holders and door hangers that I have decorated over the years - We still use a garland I made 13 years ago!
This year I was inspired to make this door hanger because of the challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges! We want you to make something that is -
I started with a chipboard door hanger that I covered in Chocolate Pudding Fresco paint. Then I applied some Crackle Glaze very thinly over the hanger. When this was dry I sponged some Nougat Fresco Paint over it - This is my favourite 'neutral' base colour. The crackles start appearing really quickly and I love working with Fresco paints because of this - the paint dries so quickly and has a gorgeous chalky matt finish. Perfect for shabbying up!
I then sanded very lightly around the edges to reveal the dark paint underneath.
I used a Flonzcraft stamp - Christmas Cheer -Which is a set of stamps but I just used the script segment. I inked it with Potting soil Archival ink and stamped the bottom of the door hanger.
I then used a Tim Holtz Christmas stamp at the top and added my usual favourite script stamp dabbed here and there.
I glued a piece of crochet lace across the hanger and a frayed piece of green ribbon was tied into a bow and stuck on top. I added a dark burgundy button which had been tied with ivory hemp string.
Some curled rusty wire was added............
......and a wooden tree decoration on which I stuck a tiny star covered in gold Distress stickles glue.
Hope you like my Shabby Chic Christmas door hanger! Why not come over and join us this time at Fashionable Stamping Challenges Remember we are a stamping challenge so please feature a stamped focal image on your creation - You could be the winner of $20 to spend at Flonzcraft Stamps! And of course you could be picked at one of our Catwalk Spotlights!
Thanks so much for being here! Hope to see you all again soon....
