Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas - Week Five

Oh, I am loving the Funkie Junkie Christmas tags!

I don't need a reason to get excited about Christmas but these tags are really getting me in a Christmas mood.... This one totally got ideas buzzing! I adore Vintage Photo so I needed no encouragement to get into the sepia frame of mind!

After not having any Christmas stamps to use last year (being very new to blogland) I decided I would definitely have some for this year. So for my birthday in June I requested a Tim Holtz Christmas set....not very summery, but I knew it would really help for Christmas crafts. I was thrilled that Linda used the Father Christmas image - I had to copy!!!

First things first though....I cut the tag to size and covered with Vintage Photo DI, making it darker around the edges. Then I did some spritz and flick to add some lovely texture effects. I used my favourite script stamp in Potting Soil Archival ink.........

............and then used Cosmic Shimmer copper mist to add a lovely sparkle.

I got some corrugated cardboard and applied some Antique Linen and Vintage Photo DP over it. The image of Father Christmas was stamped with potting Soil Archival ink and then had Walnut Stain DI blended around the edges.

I covered the die cut holly leaves with Cocoa Brown Pigment ink and then applied Embossing Antiquities Frosted Crystal embossing powder. This was the first time I have used this embossing powder and I am not sure I used it right....I believed it was meant to have a matt effect but as you can see from the photos it didn't exactly work like that. I do like the effect but I think I need to experiment a bit more!

I added some pearls as holly berries and then began to work on the flower decoration.

I used some Tattered Florals die cuts, blended some Vintage Photo DI over them, then after covering the die cuts with glossy accents glue I applied some Clear Rock Candy Distress glitter. A silver brad was covered with Ginger alcohol ink and added to the center of the flower.

The other flower is a Grape Hyacinth....My mother in law grows them in her courtyard in the Czech republic. Last summer when we were visiting they had all needed cutting and were in a perfect dried state - lovely for craft work. In exchange for my doing all the cutting I was given a load to bring back to add to my craft stash. They are gorgeous! I covered the branch with gesso and then when the paint was still wet I sprinkled loads of Clear Rock Candy Distress glitter over it. When that was dry I dabbed the petals with Vintage Photo DI.

A Vintage Photo covered ribbon completed the tag! And there it is - Tag number 5!!!

I am really enjoying being part of the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style challenge! I can highly recommend that you pop over to see Linda and grab some of this gorgeous inspiration too!

Why not come along and share in the fun of this challenge?...all you have to do is make something inspired by each of the 12 tags and you could be in with a chance to win $50 to spend at the Funkie Junkie Boutique

Thanks so much for being here -  See you on the 1st November at Our Creative Corner!!!
