Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas - Week Four

.....And now we are on to Twelve Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style Number 4!

I am trying to fit the first five in quickly so that I can catch up! Sorry that I am bombarding you all with them at the moment! Hope you are enjoying seeing them...

I love this tag - I adore the flowers, gingham ribbon and burlap - so many gorgeous elements, I was spoilt for choice for elements to be inspired by! So I went for as much as I could cram onto the tag. This was perhaps the most difficult one I have made so far, because there were so many items I wanted to include and I am working on quite a small tag surface.

I got some patterned paper from a Christmas set that had script and snowflakes and I applied it to the MDF tag base.

I cut squares of burlap and roughly dabbed them with gesso as Linda had done with her tag. For mine I dry brushed some of my favourite Fresco paint - French Roast - to add a shabbier grungy look.

I didn't have the letters that Linda had so I used Grungeboard alphabet letters - painted with Brushed Pewter Crackle paint and then covered with some French Roast Fresco paint and wiped with a baby wipe. This gave the letters a lovely tarnished look.

I decided to apply my letters diagonally and have the flowers placed in opposite corners. I used two Poinsettia die cuts to form the flowers - one was cut from grid pattered Kraft card and I liked the effect so didn't cover it in paint. The others were plain and I blended Festive Berries DS over them and added lines with a red pen. A crystal button in the center of the flowers finished them off.

I had plenty of gingham ribbon so used it as a bow for the top of the tag as well as featuring bits across the tag as well.

A strip of die cut lace was inked with Frayed Burlap DI and glued to the bottom of the tag

So there we have the fourth tag inspired by the 12 tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style!

Why not come along and share in the fun of this challenge too?...all you have to do is make something inspired by each of the 12 tags and you could be in with a chance to win $50 to spend at the Funkie Junkie Boutique

  2. I adore all the tags you've been making. They are really helping to get me in the Christmas mood! This one is so like a little Christmas cottage! I am so busy at the moment, as we are moving my mum today! I would love to join in this challenge, but fear there won't be time! Never mind, it's a joy to take a peek at what you are creating! 4. Beautiful Laura. I love red gingham and the way you made little flags from it instead of bows is brilliant. The crackled letters came out wonderful too. Your rustic looking poinsettias are delightful too. Your #4 tag is delightful! So glad you are continuing to play along!

    Hugs,
    Linda
