Last year I loved the Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas...Sadly I didn't join in - I was new to blogland, I felt I didn't know enough techniques, and that I couldn't possibly catch up even if I did know enough....and so I was content to watch in awe.... This year I am going to join in!!!
Earlier this year I went to Stamperama and there was a deal on buying Kaisercraft MDF albums...I bought four sets planning to use some of them for the 12 tags of Christmas. I planned to make all 12 and hang them up at Christmas...I thought the MDF will make them sturdier and easier to hang up.
I am so excited that it is that time of year already! I have been feeling very ill and hadn't made anything for what seems like ages....Linda's Christmas tags are the perfect inspiration to help get back into a craft mood...and I loved making this one....
First of all apologies for the upside down writing in the background...I didn't realise my mistake until all pictures were uploaded --- Oh well, embrace imperfection! ;o)
I was obviously very inspired by the monochrome snow look! I cut a piece of black card to the size of the tag and stamped snowflakes with Picket Fence DP.
I then lightly spritzed the card with White Linen Dylusions spray to look like a dusting of snow flakes.
I cut out a rectangle of black card, spritzed with the Dylusions spray again and wrote 'Let it Snow' on it in white gel pen. The frame was covered in music print paper and then covered in Clear Rock Candy distress stickles dry glitter. The die cut flourish was also covered in glitter.
I loved the hint of bright colour on Linda's monochromatic tag so I had to bring in my own scarlet and green. A few die cut flowers were dabbed with Peeled Paint DS and had a silver brad attatched to them.
A scarlet satin ribbon bow was placed with one of the flowers and another bow topped the tag.
I used some tissue tape to edge the tag....
....and there is my first '12 Tags of Christmas' tag!
Hope you like it! There will be more to follow! Why not join in too...just make something inspired by each tag and you could be in with a chance to win $50 to spend at the Funkie Junkie Boutique
See you soon!
I would like to enter this in the following challenge -
Funkie Junkie - 12 Tags of Christmas
So neat - love this tag! That Clear Rock Candy distress stickles dry glitter sound like something fun that I must have! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, Laura...
Love this tag --spritzing the white Dylusions on the black is so cool and really does look like snowflakes
ReplyDeleteA really inspirational tag Laura, love how you created the background, it does look like a dusting of snow and the pops of colour look beautiful. Hope you are feeling much better now - our whole family have just come down with a horrible bug (not me!) just one week before the wedding! Hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteSuch a fantastic take on Linda's tag. The frosted effect looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great start Laura, this is just wonderful! Fantastic background and wonderful other elements, what a great first tag! Now I can't wait to see the next ones. Glad also that you are feeling a bit better!
ReplyDeleteThis is great Laura. I really enjoyed doing this one and I am sure I will love the rest (just need to photograph two!). Love everyone's interpretation of these tags.

Oh dear Laura, this is such an elegant gorgeous tag, love the snowy background, gorgeous swirl with the tiny flowers, ah, oh boy it's nice to know that even designers make mistakes, and we embrace the mistakes, excellent advise to all of us crafters, it looks fabulous anyway.. Its gorgeous and I'll excited too for the rest,..
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteSo excited that you want to play along with my little challenge this year! You've achieved a lovely chalkboard effect with a really cool frosty feel to it. The diamond border frames it up perfectly! Thanks so much for joining in the 12 tags fun. I hope by this time you are feeling better!
Hugs,
Linda
