Hearts and flowers

Hello everyone!

        I am here today to tell you about the new challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges. The first challenge of the new year is -

Hearts and Flowers

.....at the moment I am stuck in a sepia mood. I have been adding the occasional dabs of peach, pink or blue.....but for the next month or so expect a lot of Sepia tones here at Laurart!

      And so off we go....when I first heard about this challenge I imagined I would go for pretty vintage shabby chic pinks - but it became much grungier!

      I covered a tag with Vintage Photo DI and then did some spritz and flick followed by a spritz of a new spray I bought recently - Tsukineko 'Rich Cocoa'....I wasn't too impressed with this at first because when you spray it looks like nothing happened, but the colour and glimmer definitely gets stronger after it has dried.

    I stamped around the edges with a delicate flower stamp in Gathered Twigs DI and a script stamp in Potting Soil Archival ink.

    A Gibson girl stamp from FSC's sponsor Flonzcraft was used with Potting Soil Archival ink followed by Distress embossing powder in Walnut Stain.

    I covered some die cut flowers in Vintage Photo DI and then stamped some of the script stamp over the top with Potting Soil Archival ink. I blended some Walnut Stain DI around the edges of the flowers and attached a bronze brad to the centres.

   




   I dabbed some Walnut Stain DI around the edges of the tag followed by some Aged Gold Frantage Powder with some Tarnished Mica flakes sprinkled on too.

The hearts are the cardboard remains of some stencils my daughter got...she was going to chuck them in the bin and I grabbed them! I painted them with Vintage Photo DP and then dabbed along one edge with embossing ink before covering in Distress embossing powder in Tea Dye. I then wrapped some rusty wire around the larger heart and then stuck them together.

A bit of brown hemp string was looped around the wire at the back of the heart and tied into a loop.
