Journey of Love

Hello! Thanks so much for being here to take a peek at my latest creation - This one is so very special to me....

After the 'forgetting a challenge deadline' fiasco the other day, I decided to get this one done quickly! Husband was watching football and because I would rather watch paint dry than do that, I decided to have a go at making something. And I must say this was a JOY to make....I was determined not to let this Frilly and Funkie challenge slip away from me and well, they had me hooked as soon as I saw the title 'A Time for Weddings' I adore weddings and I couldn't resist using my own, which was only last summer, as the inspiration for it.

My (ooops....I mean 'Our') wedding colours were Sage and Lilac, but the 'Frilly and Funkie' challenge asked for one colour...and with 'Simon Says' asking us to use our 'Favourite most used ink' -  I really had to pick Bundled Sage over the rarely used Milled Lavender....Oh it was hard to choose a colour - but with the 'Frilly and Funkie' challenge firmly in my mind it made it an easier choice! Without that I don't think I could ever have decided!

So lets see what I made - This started out as a plain, unpainted, unvarnished light wood frame that has been sitting waiting patiently to be decorated for about six years now! I never seemed to find the right project for it -

I glued some lace around the frame, painted it with Gesso. I then painted around the edges with Taupe Acrylic paint and then covered with crackle glaze before painting with Picket Fence DP.

I painted over the lace with the Picket Fence DP and then blended some Frayed Burlap DI over it before dry brushing with white acrylic paint .

Although I do have many pattered paper backgrounds that would have been lovely used here - I decided I would make the backgrounds myself using white card. I stamped several flourishes with clear embossing ink, covered in clear embossing powder and then used the heat gun. After that I went over the clear flourishes with Bundled Sage DI. I did the same for the layered card that I attached the photo to, along with a white piece of card with Bundled Sage DP stamped onto the edges.

Strips of card had Bundled Sage DI blended on them and then Picket Fence DP stamped on with a script stamp, this was mirrored in the background where I used the script stamp but stamped with Vintage Photo DI. Peeled Paint DI was used with a flourish stamp to add a darker green for contrast.

I then constructed the picture, layering the card, adding a metal quote and a heart shaped stamp made with Bundled Sage DP and layered with a grapevine heart.

A metal tag was covered in Bundled Sage and Picket Fence DP and the month of August calendar from Tissue Tape (we got married in August) attached with a white heart brad.

Cream roses, frayed material, sage ribbon (from our wedding decorations) pearl pins and pearl decorations and delicate white diecut flowers edged in Vintage Photo DI completed this creation....it really brings back beautiful memories of a wonderful day....

So there it is! A wedding day creation! I do thank you for being here to see it and would love to know what you thought of it - I hope you like it!

And just to add a further sentimental touch to this post I would like to share with you our wedding song - Music is so very important to us and was a huge part of the wedding -Hope you like it!
