I am so sorry I haven't been able to comment on people's blogs lately....Hopefully I will find time to catch up and visit you all soon. I am afraid my attention has been focused on my challenge blog Our Creative Corner which at the time of writing this has 507 entries! That is a LOT of commenting for me to do! I am determined to view and comment on each - it is wonderful seeing so much wonderful talent - If you haven't entered yet...why not do it?! It is 'Anything Goes' so get over there and show us your creations and you could be our Top Talent!
So on with what I have made....There haven't been many posts from me lately, it has taken me much longer than normal to make this creation and several days to write up this post and because it has taken me so long I totally got the deadlines wrong! I had made it for the Frilly and Funkie challenge 'There's no time to waste'....and I totally forget the deadline...I am so grateful for the lovely challenge idea and where it eventually led me.
On Simon Says they were running a challenge to use 6 x 6 papers....Well, I had a pack that were perfect for my ideas for the 'There's no time to waste' challenge....Luckily, I will make the Simon Says deadline...I really think I need a diary ;o) !!!!
I wanted to make a mini album...I really love making albums from scratch - when I was first doing scrap booking I did buy some ready made albums, but I soon realised how easy it is to make your own. For this album I was focusing on 'Time' and thinking about my children growing up and how fast it is that they grow.
I have been keeping a book where I write all the funny things they have said and the date they were said....so that in the future they (and anyone else) can look back on them and (hopefully) laugh! From their first words - and I am still writing in it now....I decided to make an album that featured some photos showing how they are changing alongside some funny little quotes from them....
I constructed a simple book from card...making an accordion style hinge and covering each page with Melissa Frances 5th Avenue papers - Which are just so gorgeous!
For the cover I had a page that was quite plain, so I stamped some clocks, a quote and some words in Frayed Burlap DI...I didn't mask the stamps as you can see, because I wanted the effect to be more rustic and overlapped....
To decorate the front of the album I used a die cut flourish covered in Frayed Burlap DI, a mini tag with the word 'TIME' stamped on it and faux stitching around the sides. A gorgeous metal flower which was a lovely gift from a wonderful crafting friend, centred with a heart brad that had been painted with Weathered Wood DP and smudged with Frayed Burlap ink. A stamped clock face with glossy accents to add a glass effect was added, before the whole thing was up with string.
........and a grapevine heart and key was added to hang down from the album
For the pages inside the album I chose various Melissa Frances 5th Avenue papers...some are plainer than others so I chose some stamps to decorate the plainer pages. I inked around the edges with Frayed Burlap DI to add a vintage shabby look and added some quotes from my children....
Thanks for taking a peek at this mini album! And thank you for being here despite my absence - I will be back doing the rounds and being nosey very soon!
I would like to enter this in the following challenge -
Simon Says - A little paper
Fashionable Stamping Challenges - Anything Goes
The Artistic Stamper - Words
Inspiration Journal - Add a favourite quote - My childrens's quotes are my favourite of course - but a close second is the 'Live in the moment...' quote that I used in the album.
A beautiful handmade album that is such a treasure. Love that metal flower and each charming page full of memories. Hugs, Jenny x
ReplyDeleteA wonderful little book, both outside and in! I loved reading the quotes and your children's sayings made me laugh out loud! A great idea to keep your memories like that. Oh and congrats on the huge success of your challenge blog! I don't usually do many challenges or visit many challenge blogs, but I have a hunch this must be the most successful challenge in blogland right now, - amazing, and you certainly have a talented bunch of designers to inspire people. I may just have to join the fun with my next project...
