Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas - Week Ten

   Hello everyone!

It is week 10 of the '12 tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style'! I loved this tag - Linda's was so very beautiful.

My only sadness was that I didn't have the holly stencil so I couldn't use that effect - which I was desperate to do! Never mind! My tag went on a different journey and ended up being a rather lovely vintage Christmas tag. I was inspired by the holly and the frame so I decided to get to work on a tag involving those elements.

I covered the tag with Gathered Twigs DI and then lightly spritzed with Biscotti Perfect pearls Glimmer spray.

I added some script and music stamps in Potting Soil archival ink.

I added a flourish stamp in Walnut Stain DI in the corners

The 'Merry Christmas' was stamped in Black Archival ink onto card that had been blended with Frayed Burlap DI and edged with Walnut Stain DI

Above and below the 'Merry Christmas' stamp I used a flourish stamp using Walnut Stain DI

I cut a frame out of embossed card using some oval cutters I have. I covered the frame with Old Gold Fresco paint and then a coat of French Roast Fresco paint which ages the gold paint beautifully.

Then I brushed the frame with Classic Gold Treasure Gold.

I used some holly die cuts and covered them with Peeled Paint and Forest Moss DI. I then covered them with clear embossing powder and melted it.

I had three rose shaped resin beads and I painted them with Blood Orange Fresco paint and when dry I brushed them with some of the Classic Gold Treasure Gold.

I used a burgundy ribbon to decorate the top of the frame

....and for the top of the tag I used an ornate corner which was brushed with the Treasure Gold too.

So there it is - My 10th Funkie Junkie Christmas tag! Hope you like it!

I would like to enter this in the following challenge -

  3. Laura, this is just gorgeous! I find - like you - that when I don't have the materials it actually sends me on a journey of discovery. I loved Linda's Tag 10, but I think yours is superb too. I love what you did with the frame. I have those colours so I might give that a try: I will give you credit for the idea, of course - thank you for sharing all the beautiful things you create. Those resin roses look delicious - mine are all used up now :( I think I agree with Ann that this is my favourite one of your tags and Linda's too. Julie Ann xx

  7. Ooohhh, absolutely sensational take on Tag #10, Laura, a real "WOW" piece here! I'm a sucker for anything metal and you have some gorgeous pieces here - the corner piece and the frame (which you didn't tell us how it was made). Your resin roses and holly leaves are fantastic too. This is just a gorgeous piece of work!

    Hugs,
    Linda
