Sew much fun
I am so excited!!!!!!
A little while ago I got an email asking me if I would like to join the Design Team at Fashionable Stamping Challenges
I jumped at the chance! To be honest I didn't even think about it at all...how could I refuse one of my favourite challenges?....I said "YES PLEASE!" and pinged back an email at supersonic speed before Shirl could change her mind!!!.....
So today I would love to present to you my creation for Fashionable Stamping Challenges whose current challenge is.......
Sew 'n' Sew
Please don't be put off entering this challenge if sewing isn't something you enjoy doing - Anything to do with sewing can be used on your creation - Why not try some faux stitching or some sewing themed die cuts or stamps...but please remember that it is a Stamping challenge so we will need to see stamps on your creation.
I adored this challenge - I was so glad to get to use the sewing stamp set that I was given for my birthday.....
.....my husband handed it to me saying "I really liked this one"...Ok, it was on my wishlist so he didn't actually choose it but he did select it from a very looooonnng list of stamps! So lets give the man a round of applause - he has very good taste!
I decided to make a framed picture. I cut lengths from balsa wood and glued them together to make a simple frame. I painted it with Nougat Fresco paint and when that was dry I covered it with DecoArt crackle glaze. This had French Roast paint rubbed into the cracks and wiped with a baby wipe.
The collage was placed on some gorgeous pale blue patterned paper which had a delicate brown scroll down the side, this is what set the colour scheme. I stamped some micro pore tape with a ruler stamp and attached it to the picture.
I painted some silver ink (not chosen for any technical reason - it was the only silver colour I had) and stamped the scissors on it with Black Archival ink and embossed it.
I stamped several cotton reel stamps...........................
.....and the dressmakers mannequin onto the paper and embellished with coffee coloured lace and some buttons
The 'Sewing Room' sign was made with ivory card that had been covered with streaks of Weathered Wood DP. I stamped the sign with Black Archival ink and then I punched holes around the edge with a needle to make a stitching template....
Having the pre-punched holes makes it much easier to sew neatly by hand - I do have a sewing machine but it is an old machine and I haven't managed to summon the courage to sew card with it yet! Actually hand stitching seemed right for this sign - I liked the thicker embroidery cotton and the shabby stitch style! I sewed around the edge with ivory embroidery cotton, leaving a trailing end of cotton and inserting the needle into the sign when I had finished.
I attached two pearl pins behind the sign.
I cut out a cotton reel from card and painted it with Irish Cream Fresco paint and smudged some Vintage Photo DI around the edges and marked it with some pencil lines to add some more shabby effect. I wound the same ivory cotton around it and twisted the end into a loop and trailed it over the button arrangement.
I used some delicate diecut flowers, covered them in Weathered Wood DP and when they were dry I covered them with Hard Rock Candy glitter glue which gave it a lovely encrusted crystal effect.
The word 'Sew' was from Tim Holtz Grungeboard Alphabet Soup letters....they were covered with Mocha Mousse Fresco paint and when dry I covered them heavily with Rock Candy Clear Glitter glue - I adore this glitter glue...Can't get enough of it!
You can really see the texture of the glitter on this picture......Looks SEW pretty! (Sorry!) ;o)
And there is my first DT creation for Fashionable Stamping challenges - I had a wonderful time making it! Hope you like it....
Why not hop over to Fashionable Stamping Challenges, have a peek at the wonderful creations made by the rest of the FSC Design Team and join in with this challenge? You could be one of the Top 3 or maybe you will be the lucky winner of $20 to spend at Flonzcraft.....
