Winter Wonderland

Hi everyone!

Today at Try it on Tuesday we would like you to focus on -

I had some new stamps by Sheena Douglass - and the trees are so gorgeous....At the beginning I didn't really know where I wanted to go with this - Just a vague idea of a winter scene, maybe on a tag....

Well, at least it was the start of an idea....I dabbed some Weathered Wood, Picket Fence and Iced Spruce DP over the craft mat and then spritzed with water. I swiped the tag through it and then spritzed with more water to get the marble effect.

This was dried with the heat gun and I had the winter snow filled sky.

I stamped the trees with Potting Soil Archival ink and dried it with the heat gun and then stamped the fences with Frayed Burlap DP.

When this was dry I mixed the Frayed Burlap DP with French Roast Fresco paint to darken it slightly and painted shadows on the fences.

I then dabbed Gesso over the trees and fences for the snow and sprinkled with Rock Candy Distress glitter.

I sprayed the tag with White Linen Dylusions spray to look like a very fine snowfall.

I stamped some flourishes with Potting Soil Arcival ink and then blended Walnut Stain around the edges of the tag..........

.........Usually when I work I have a very detailed plan - this was more a 'see how it develops' creation. And with hindsight, I shouldn't have used the distress ink before the crackle glaze - however sometimes errors can be serendipitous - and some of the ink gave a lovely pale pink glow....which to my eyes enhances that winters day look....

The crackle glaze was applied around the edges of the tag and white paint rubbed into the cracks to give a cracked ice effect.

I had the perfect quote stamp but  I was too happy with the tag to risk the consquences of a bad stamp - I could have used Distress inks which would wipe off but I don't really like stamping wtih anything other than Archival inks...and I didn't have any tissue paper to use - so I made an extra part of the tag.

I used the same Distress paints as before to create another 'sky' effect and stamped the quote and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then mounted it on brown card and covered the edges with crackle glaze. Once dry I rubbed some white paint into the cracks to create that cracked ice effect and liberally coated it with Rock Candy distress glitter....

I also spritzed it with Dylusions White Linen spray to give that same snowfall look as the tag....wiping it away from some of the stamping but leaving some words in a slight white haze.

I made some holes in the tag and attached the sign to the tag with rusty wire looped into rings.

The top of the tag was decorated with white cord and some lovely frosty looking grey string

And that is my Tree Tag! Hope you like it and have enjoyed the journey into making a winter scene!
