At Fashionable Stamping Challenges we are getting into the......
I decided to make some vintage mini Christmas stockings for my children...
I chose two colours of tartan material and cut stocking shapes.
I then cut some squares of ivory cotton and stamped on them with Potting Soil Archival ink.
I frayed the edges of the material and inked them with Walnut Stain DI. I machine sewed the images onto one of the stocking shapes, and then sewed the two stocking shapes together.
I decorated one with cut out holly shapes and a rustic button ties with brown hemp string.
The other I decorated with a crochet flower and an ornate button with some tartan ribbon.
Crochet lace was glued to the top of one stocking
Ivory braid was added to the other stocking.
I glued a gingham bow to one....
and a tartan bow to the other
I stamped 'Merry Christmas' in Potting Soil Archival ink on pieces of card and dabbed Walnut Stain DI around the card to add a vintage look. I looped twine through the card and attached them to the twine loops that I added to the top of the stocking....
And there are some Christmas Stockings - which will be filled with sweets and hidden somewhere on the tree - not much of a challenge really because against the bright, metallic, glitter laden baubles (that the kids chose themselves) that cover the tree, these delicate little treats will stick out like sore thumbs!!! ;o)
