Shades of Sepia
I love PaperArtsy products and was thrilled to be able to have a little shopping trip there - where I managed to find some stencils I had wanted for a while and add to my growing Fresco paint collection - I LOVE these paints - If you haven't tried them yet I really urge you to give them a go. They are the BEST acrylic paints ever!
I bought a collection of browns and a white. I also bought the gold paint - I had been very disappointed with gold acrylic paints in the past - This one is amazing!
I bought a cheap canvas board and decided to first of all use some of the stencils...I chose the harlequin and Mini Antiquities stencil and applied some paste and left it to dry.
Then I got to playing with the brown paints...I got Mocha Mousse and Irish cream and along with the white I smooshed them around on the board that I had previously applied some torn book pages to.
I blended them over the board. When they were dry (a wonderful thing about these paints is their drying time - which is so quick, but they are still so easy to blend)
I then got a script stamp and stamped with Archival coffee ink randomly over the board. I dabbed some of the Mocha Mousse and Irish Cream paint through the Harlequin Stencil and then dry brushed various shades over the edges of the board.
I also had got some Grunge board letters and chose the word Fly...
I wanted to have some wings on the board somewhere at this point so I painted the letters with Vintage Photo DP and then coated them in crackle paint. When they were dry I dabbed some of the old gold paint around the sides of the letters...
I painted the plain wings in Mocha Mousse paint and a set of embossed wings with the old gold paint. I then stencilled some of the gold paint onto the brown wings.
I added a rose that had been dabbed with Walnut Stain DI and added a grapevine heart.
And there you have my shades of sepia canvas......Hope you like it!

Laura...your canvas is lovely. I love the soft sepia and white washed tones. Your art is always so beautifully done. I love the texture you've added with the stencils.
