Colour between the lines

Hello everyone!

At Fashionable Stamping Challenges I chose the challenge this time and I suggested we -

Colour between the lines

Just stamp an image and colour it in - any way you like, however you like....

I decided to make an ATC...and it is inspired by one of my very favourite artists. When I first arrived in crafty blogland there were a handful of artists who I thought were absolutely awesome....I would look at their work and wish that I could do what they do....(...that still happens!)
Julia is one of those artists. I am in awe of her talent, I adore her work, she always does something so inspiring and I so wish my work was as good as hers....

So when I saw a recent ATC set of hers I desperately wanted to see if I could do something like it (and of course doubting that I would get anywhere close)...I then realised that it would fit in perfectly with my 'Colour between the lines' challenge..

First I stamped a stamp from the Artistic Outpost Generation Redux set onto acetate with Jet Black Archival ink

I then painted behind the image with various colours of Fresco Paint

I cut out an ATC sized piece of card and stuck a sheet of text paper over the top.

I then brushed Gesso over this to tone down the vividness of the text print

I sponged some Smoked Paprika and Pumpkin Soup Fresco Paint over the top. These colours are the lightest and brightest acrylic paints I own, and they are also translucent which meant I wasn't going to lose the text print

I then stenciled a letter stencil with Bora Bora Fresco paint

I then used an Artistic Stamper background stamp using Jet Black Archival ink in the top corners of the ATC

I then used my favourite script stamp and using Picket Fence DP I stamped around the edges of the ATC

I applied blobs of Liquid Glass to the corners.

When dry I painted them with Chocolate Pudding Fresco Paint and while wet I sprinkled them with Vintage Photo Distress Embossing powder. I then repeated that process several times but this time lightly dabbing the dots of liquid glass with Quinacridone Gold Decoart Paint and sprinkling with the embossing powder while wet.

Because this ATC was inspired by Julia I decided to mention inspiration on the ATC...so I used Chit Chat stickers edged in Black Soot DI - I chose the words "finding inspiration"

I dabbed around the edge of the ATC with Black Soot DI to add a grungy look

And that is my ATC inspired by one of my favorite artists - Hope you like it...

I would love it if you came over to see what the rest of the team have made to inspire you at Fashionable Stamping Challenges!

Remember we are a stamping challenge so please feature a stamped focal image on your creation. You could be the winner of $20 to spend at Flonzcraft

Happy Crafting!

  5. WOW Laura!! I didn't expect to be reading about me when I finally got here several hours later!! I am hugely honoured that you should think of me in this way and absolutely amazed to be honest. Remember a certain little bag that you made and which now belongs to me? How much do I still love that little stunner - the feeling is mutual about everything you've said.
Of course, I absolutely LOVE your ATC. The colour, the interspersed monochrome bits and the rusty touches are all things I absolutely adore. You probably realise the lift that this has given me and I thank you so much for that. I love having you as a blog, friend, as a challenge blog colleague and most of all as someone who is always there. Love & hugs, Julia xxx
