Good enough to eat

Hello!

Grab your sunglasses - this is a bright one!

For those of you who know my style, you will probably be shocked at this tag...I usually go for quite subtle vintage tones - My Antique Linen DS is something I cannot live without! A while ago I decided I needed to embrace a brighter selection of colours, so I bought some new Distress stains.

I chose Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry and Dusty Concord...and along with the Salted Ocean stain, that up until then was my only bright colour in the stain collection, I was raring to go.....

.....but I couldn't do it....I don't do bright colours and it looked like they would be left to sit alone and never be used.

This all changed now that Fashionable Stamping Challenges are doing the challenge -

 'Can you resist?'

I don't do much resist work....I do like the effect but I just don't find myself opting to use it. Suddenly those dazzling colours looked more appealing and I decided that they would be perfect for resist as a dazzling contrast...

I got a tag...stamped some text using Picket Fence DP and the flourish (which can barely be seen) was stamped using plain white acrylic paint - I think we can see which works best! I had heard people say Distress Paints are great to stamp with, but to be honest I had struggled with them up until now. I never seemed to get the right amount of paint on the stamp. This time, I could see what people meant...the resist was perfect and I loved how they stamped....

I swirled some Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade (how yummy are those names?) onto the craft mat and swirled the tag in them. Dried it with the heat gun and then patted a few times. After it was dry I wiped the tag with a babywipe and sure enough the Distress Paints resisted the stain beautifully.

One of my favourite quote stamps was used in Black Archival ink and was heat embossed.

I blended some Walnut Stain DI around the edges of the tag just to add a shabby look

I used some die cut flowers, some I dabbed with a mix of the stains and the others I stamped first with the same text stamp I used before and then swirled in the stains.

I joined them with copper brads and added them to the tag along with some curled rusty wire.

Some shocking pink ribbon left over from an old gift bag was the perfect match to the Picked Raspberry colour so I added this to the top of the tag..........

..............and hooked some rusty curled wire around it.

Hope you like this very bright tag! Please hop on over to Fashionable Stamping Challenges and see the wonderful inspiration from the other members of the design team! Come and join the challenge  and you could be one of our spotlights on the catwalk. You could also be the lucky winner of $20 to spend at Flonzcraft!

Thanks so much for being here! See you soon...
